Anıl A. Tellbüscher had the great pleasure to conclude a one-month internship (25.09.-22.10.2023) at the University of Antwerp in Belgium. He was hosted by Prof. Philippe Nimmegeers (Engineering Management research group) and Prof. Pieter Billen (iPRACS – Intelligence in PRocesses, Advanced Catalysts and Solvents research group).
During his time, Anıl had the chance to learn the principles and applications of Material Flow Analysis (MFA), and Statistical Entropy Analysis (SEA). SEA is a tool to assess the concentration or dilution efficiency of one or multiple within an arbitrary complex material flow system and yields a simple indicator, the substance concentration efficiency (SCE). Applying this method to aquaculture systems might yield new insights from which recommendations with regards to their management can be derived to make aquaculture more circular.
The internship was supported by a Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) grant from the EU COST Action CA20133 “FULLRECO4US” - Cross Border Transfer and Development of Sustainable Resource Recovery Strategies Towards Zero Waste. The train was chosen as mode of transportation to reduce the carbon footprint of traveling.
